This week marked the start of Virginia’s legislative session and 2017 is shaping up to be a critical year for Virginia’s LGBTQ community. Last week, Gov. Terry McAuliffe signed an executive order extending protections that exist on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity for state employees to contractors and in the delivery of state services.

Over the next few weeks of legislative session, HRC will continue to partner closely with the dedicated staff of Equality Virginia as we work together to defeat any attacks on the rights of LGBTQ Virginians and their families.
