Four Ways to Get Involved With HRC’s Vote Equality Efforts in Georgia

With four weeks left before election day, the Human Rights Campaign is ramping up its election efforts in Georgia. The stakes have never been higher for an election in Georgia, a historically red state that could swing blue in the upcoming election. HRC staff and volunteers have been on the ground mobilizing pro-equality voters to get engaged with local efforts to elect pro-equality candidates and #turnOUT the vote in November.

HRC has launched an unprecedented campaign to mobilize the growing and highly engaged LGBTQ community. In Atlanta, HRC has joined forces with Hillary for America, the Democratic Party of Georgia and state equality leaders to engage pro-equality voters. Last month, HRC kicked off its HRC for HRC phone banks and LGBTQ Night, calling members and pro-equality voters to urge them to vote for Hillary Clinton and other pro-equality candidates down the ballot.

Following the kickoff, HRC volunteers were fired up by a visit from Anne Holton, the spouse of vice president candidate Tim Kaine. Holton thanked volunteers for continuing to show up and for  making calls to voters across the state to talk with their neighbors, friends and family.

“You’re putting Georgia into the heart of the map…It’s an exciting place to be because your work really, really matters,” Holton said.

The last day to register to vote in Georgia is October 11th and early voting begins on October 17th. HRC will continue working to engage pro-equality voters to join the local efforts and turn out the vote. If you live in Georgia and would like to get involved, there are four ways you can join HRC’s efforts:

  1. Join HRC during our weekly phone banks Monday and Wednesday from 5:30PM to 8:30PM at the HER House located at 217 Walker St SW, Atlanta, GA 30313. [hyperlink to RSVP]
